  1. Great article on Maternity leave. Above all this is a legal requirement in most countries! Whether the organisation likes it or not a minimum number of days needs to be given as Maternity leave. In Sri Lanka it's 84 working days for the 01st and 02nd born for 'shop and office employees '. Though there is a minimum number of days prescribed by the law, there are certain companies that goes beyond this legal requirement. They provide extended Maternity leave. In SriLankan Airlines, for the cabin crew, you can get additional two years no pay to stay away from work. So the policies differ from company to company. Giving mothers time off to look after their most valued treasure during those early days will ensure that the top talent is retained in the company. Most females tend to resign from work after giving birth but if you have ways to mitigate this,I think we can retain the top talent.
